Pieces of Me

Please be advised that some of the poetry in this collection is written in an African American vernacular, offering insight into African American culture. Some of the poetry is emotionally charged, while others take the reader on a fantastical adventure. Various poems use male perspectives, and others use female ones. Several poems in this collection are based on real-life events, while others aren't about anyone at all.

No style is present in the writing. They are written in free verse and rhyme. L. M. Stephens II has never been fond of poems in forms such as haiku, sonnets, and odes. She lets the words run wild, creating their unique patterns. In L. M. Stephens II's opinion, some poems lose their flow after being forced into a style.

So, L. M. Stephens II invites you to enjoy this journey and wishes you well as you travel to novel places and conjure thoughts you never would have explored on your own. The process of creating these pieces was soothing and joyful for her. So, good luck with your reading adventure. Let it take you somewhere.⁹
